Hi everyone, Rachel here from 360 Life Safety to talk to you about our most comprehensive mini TAK in our mini trauma aid kit product line, the E Kit.
All of the products that we find in our mini TAK series leading up to the E kit are in here as well, so let’s quickly go over these foundational products before we discuss the addition that’s in the E kit. From our A kit we have 2 pairs of gloves, a mylar or space blanket, sterile Z-folded gauze, and a SWAT or Stretch Wrap and Tuck tourniquet. The B kit brings the addition of the pressure bandage or Israeli bandage, The C kit adds a pair of occlusive seals which are used to treat any wound that compromises the chest cavity, and the D kit adds that great hemostatic gauze that helps in the coagulation of blood.
So, what is our E kit giving us? It adds another tourniquet. This type of tourniquet is incredibly robust as it is military grade. The increased width of this tourniquet will also help reduce localized tissue damage. It’s called a Soft-T, also known as a special operation forces tactical tourniquet and it can be applied very quickly.
There’s two ways you can apply it.. depending on the location of the wound and how the victim is positioned, you can leave it buckled and move it up the limb above the wound, or you can unbuckle it and feed it under the limb, possibly at a joint, slide it up above the wound and then re-buckle it.
You’re then going to pull the strap tight; this is your windlass, you’re going to twist it which will add pressure and tighten the strap until the bleeding stops. You’re then going to lock the windlass in place to maintain that pressure.
All of our trauma aid kits have a unique serial number that, upon registration, provides you access to our training videos. Additionally, we’ll send you an email when perishable items approach their expiration date. Allowing you to always be prepared for the unforeseen where you learn, work, play and pray.
