AMD Ryzen 7 5800U vs. 4800U - Laptop Processor Comparison
Hey guys! Today we compare the AMD Ryzen 7 5800U with its predecessor the Ryzen 7 4800U. We want to find out how big the performance jump is compared to the older 25 watt CPU. Both have 8 cores and 16 threads, but the Ryzen 5000 CPU has double the L3 cache and a few other tricks up its sleeve. You can see how much of a difference it makes in this video.

For me, both CPUs are good workhorses that promise a long battery life with their 25 Watt TDP. However, whether an upgrade is necessary depends heavily on your task and whether the few minutes of time saved are really worth the extra cost.
Personally, I wouldn't upgrade, but if you're buying a new laptop, you should keep the 5800U in mind.
