Hey friends, in today's short video I will show you exactly how to enable or fix a microphone that isn't working in Google Chrome. If people can't hear you during voice or video calls, the most common culprit is that Chrome's site permissions are blocking your microphone by default.

First, if you are currently on a website like Zoom or Google Meet, simply click the little settings icon (the lock or circular sliders) next to the URL in your address bar and make sure the toggle next to "Microphone" is turned on or set to "Allow". If it's still not working, we need to check your main browser settings: click the three vertical dots in the top right corner of Chrome and select "Settings". On the left menu, choose "Privacy and security," then click "Site settings," and under the Permissions section, click on "Microphone". From here, check the dropdown menu at the very top to ensure your correct physical microphone is actually selected, and make sure the default behavior is set to allow sites to ask for your mic. If it still fails, double-check your Windows or Mac system audio settings to confirm your mic isn't muted system-wide.
