I had almost forgotten just how satisfying it is to plan, lead, and successfully execute a mission with an entire Hornet squadron.
In the Flaming Sunrise campaign, I have four additional Hornet pairs at my disposal besides my own flight, and I can assign them whatever tasks I deem necessary to help drive the campaign forward.
Iran has launched an invasion of the United Arab Emirates, and a U.S. Navy carrier strike group is deployed to support the ground war. But at this point in my campaign, the enemy still has a crushing advantage in the air — and something has to be done about it.
So I decide to plan an Offensive Counter Air operation for the entire squadron, combining escort, fighter sweep, SEAD, and strike elements into one coordinated package.
With so many moving parts, timing is everything.
Let's see if I can pull it off.
