All IQ2 digital backs feature Fire Wire 800 and USB3 connections to ensure the fastest possible tethered capture speeds.
Connect the IQ2 back to a computer running Capture One Pro software. The back will automatically be detected. The display on the IQ back can be either turned off while shooting tethered or set to display images as they are shot. It is also possible to enlarge a section of an image on the IQ2 screen to help check focus of current and upcoming captures.
The storage mode has four options: Auto, Compact Flash, Fire Wire, or USB. The default auto storage mode stores captured files directly on the computer via Capture One Pro software as soon as the IQ back is plugged in. Captured files will automatically be stored on the compact flash card in the back as soon as the cable is removed.
The IQ2 back can be forced to shoot to compact flash or via the Fire Wire or USB connection. If you select the Fire Wire or USB option, and remove the cable, a warning icon will flash at the bottom of the home page to let you know that you're not connected to a computer and Capture One Pro software.
The IQ2 back has an integrated charger to ensure the batteries are topped up when shooting tethered via USB3 of Fire Wire 800 cable. This function can be switched off or set to slow or fast. Select slow or off to help preserve the battery life of a laptop when shooting tethered.
When shooting tethered with an IQ2 back you can also view captured images on an iOS device. You'll need to install the Capture Pilot App on your iOS device. Ensure your iPad and your laptop computer are on the same WiFi network. Then open up the Capture Pilot App and press start image server. Then, tap the Capture Pilot App and select the appropriate server name.
All IQ2 backs make it possible to shoot and view images directly without having to be tethered to a computer.
