In this video, you’ll learn how typography works in GeneratePress and why it’s more than just picking a font. Many beginners go straight into font settings in WordPress, change a few styles, and end up with an inconsistent-looking website. This tutorial will help you avoid that by showing you the correct way to structure and manage typography.

Typography in GeneratePress includes much more than font selection. It also covers font size, font family, font weight, line height, and letter spacing. All of these elements work together to improve readability and overall user experience. A well-structured typography setup can make your website easier to read and keep visitors engaged for longer.

You’ll start by understanding where to find typography settings inside WordPress.
➜ Go to Appearance
➜ Click Customize
➜ Open Typography settings in GeneratePress

Once inside, you’ll see two important sections: Font Manager and Typography Manager. Understanding the difference between these two is the key to mastering fonts in GeneratePress.

The Font Manager acts like your font library. This is where you add fonts you want available on your website. You can choose from system fonts or Google Fonts. However, adding a font here does not change your website automatically. It only makes the font available for use. If you are using Google Fonts, you may also enable the Google Fonts API option so your site can load fonts correctly from Google’s library.

Next is the Typography Manager, where the real customization happens. This is where you decide where each font should be used across your website. You can target specific elements like:
➜ Body text
➜ Headings
➜ Site title and description
➜ Navigation menu
➜ Buttons

This is powerful because it allows you to style different parts of your website independently. For example, you can make headings bold and large, keep body text clean and readable, and make menus easier to scan without affecting the rest of your design.

The key workflow is simple:
Add fonts in the Font Manager → Assign them in the Typography Manager → Customize each element for readability and design consistency.

Once you understand this system, customizing WordPress typography becomes much easier and more structured.
