CODE ZERO is a simple, philosophical but practical approach to learn code for people ages 8 to 80. Everyone can code for free and get started right away with ZIM at http://zimjs.com which makes JavaScript easy, fun and visual with learning that directly builds professional skills using industry standards.
The HTML Canvas tag lets you create more artistic, expressive and visually engaging interactive media works like puzzles, games with easy shapes, drag and drop and animations. These are fun apps that really help engage learners of all ages.
ZIM is free JavaScript framework for the HTML Canvas. The canvas was not made to code directly - there are a variety of frameworks to help such as CreateJS which gives us objects to display on a stage and events needed to control the objects. There are also frameworks that specialize in games or mathematical equations or hooking up to hardware. ZIM is a GENERAL framework that can do many of these and more with a helpful set of conveniences, components and controls.
http://zimjs.com/learn is a large and well organized LEARN section of video and code tutorials and examples common interactive media techniques called ZIM BITS. There are workshops and lessons if you wish to teach with ZIM.
