This is a topic on which many different experts have differing opinions, and which has actually been the subject of considerable thought. I wanted to offer a brief introduction, using my limited knowledge. I also included some of my favorite websites and videos on the subject below. I encourage you to check them out if you're interested.
Of course, colors, clothes, and makeup are relative, and everyone is completely free to do and wear whatever they want. But if you've experienced confusion like me about certain things (especially makeup) and haven't been able to find an explanation for what you're not comfortable with, perhaps you can find the answer in colors and their shades. c:

Most sites are very poor at explaining dark skin tones (and often don't even include them). I found a YouTube channel like this; it explains each season separately.

The founder of Rom&nd is a Korean influencer. She creates makeup in both warm and cool tones, and I found her brand to be successful in this regard.
