I would say it's a fantastic career option
Why? Python is becoming a very popular programming language and to pair it with selenium would be in my opinion fantastic!
Python has the capability to learn well towards AI and Machine learning which in it self is fantastic as Java doesn't have this
It is a fantastic career option so go for it!
But if you change your mind and want to use java instead then the resource i'm creating online will be perfect for you
I have thought myself automation testing of the web application functional flow using selenium web driver with java
