This is a tight-knit community. We have 24 municipalities in Gloucester County and that is about 288,000 total population. People that we serve come from all different walks of life. They're employed in all different sectors from education to healthcare to manufacturing. People choose to live in Gloucester County because of the quality of life here.

We're fortunate in Gloucester County. Our board of chosen freeholders has made it abundantly clear to us, on numerous occasions, they want Gloucester County to be on the leading edge of technology. We began a process, we interviewed a lot of people, we demoed a lot of products, we took the show on the road and actually visited some installations to witness the Emergency CallWorks in operation, and our people came back with high reviews for Emergency CallWorks. Two of the things they were really excited about was the barge feature and the mapping.

So any night when a call comes into our 911 center, it plots on the map whether it's a house phone or a cell phone, so we don't have to so much search for who it's coming from, where it's coming from. We have that information right in front of us on the screen.

If it's an exact location, it's a small icon. If it's, you know, not a phase two, it's a phase one, then we get a concentric circle and we know approximately where that call came from.

The dispatch center's extremely important to the services of the fire community. They're the ones that take the phone call first, get all the information that's necessary for us to start doing our job, get us out there as fast as possible, to calm the caller down, provide very vital instructions on CPR, make sure everybody's out of the house in the event of a house fire, and then they're the lifeline between us and other units.

We service 80 first responder organizations. We dispatch police, fire, and EMS for all 24 towns in Gloucester County and five towns in a neighboring Atlantic County. We were experiencing digital television interference on our 500 Megahertz T-band platform, and we decided to go to 700 Megahertz. We ended up with a Motorola solution. We bought the Motorola infrastructure and bought 3,500 radios for our first responder organizations.

Just recently, we had an update of our radios, which I thought was the coolest thing ever because all we had to do was turn our radios on and they remotely updated all the programming. No problems, no issues, great stuff. Having good radios is imperative to officer safety.

We're so pleased with the coverage and the capacity of the new system that we bought additional radios and converted all our county departments over to the new Motorola solution as well.

We pride ourselves on being collaborative, on being innovative, and on doing things with our municipalities that make a difference for the people who live here. We've reduced the time of response for emergencies, while at the same time increasing the quality of that response. People here feel safe because of that.
