5 Things You Need To Know Before Moving To Malaysia And Marrying Your Malaysian Partner
The idea of getting married is all excitement and romance until you and your spouse-to-be start processing paperwork and dealing with government agencies. If marrying a person with the same nationality in your own country involves a great deal of stress, can you imagine how it is for those marrying foreign nationals, let alone marrying a Malaysian.
Malaysia is known to have stricter policies and more challenging processes regarding visa and PR applications for foreign spouses. I should know, I’ve been married to a Malaysian and living in Malaysia for over 2 years. 😜 And in these two years, my husband and I have visited the immigration office at least 12 times, not including other government offices. 🙂 On the other hand, I do love living in Malaysia (and Malaysians!) despite the restrictions and challenges.
In 2016, I’ve decided to help my fellow foreign spouses, their Malaysian partners as well as their families through blogging about my own experiences. I’ve received emails, direct messages and even wedding invitations from couples whom I’ve never even met, and yet have benefitted from my blogs. 😊 That felt really good. As I was conducting my own research about survival guides for foreign spouses of Malaysians, I have not encountered any videos. Hence I’ve decided to take it a notch higher by using video as a medium, to serve my target audience better.
