EATING DISORDERS COURSE DETAILS: ANOREXIA
COURSE PRESENTATION
Anorexia is a psychological and potentially fatal eating disorder. Those who suffer from this eating disorder often have an extremely low body weight relative to their height and body type. These individuals fear gaining weight and have a distorted body image. Anorexia can have a wide range of adverse effects on the body, including loss of muscle and bone mass, cardiovascular problems, and organ failure.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the course is to present theoretical knowledge about the main characteristics, pathology, and treatment of anorexia, detailing everything from assessment to diet development.

Students and professionals in Nutrition, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Medicine, and all interested parties.
PROFESSOR
Professor Dr. Camila Ferraz Lucena Monaco
Graduated in Nutrition (2002) with a specialization in Exercise Physiology (2004). She holds a Master's degree (2012) and a PhD in Science (human physiology) from the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of São Paulo. She has experience in: pancreatic islets, primary culture, omega-3 fatty acids, palmitic acid, and oxidative stress.
