🛡️ WHY THIS MATTERS FROM A SECURITY PERSPECTIVE:
CMD and Control Panel are two of the most commonly abused tools in insider threat and malware scenarios. Attackers and malicious insiders use CMD to run scripts, exfiltrate data, and move laterally across a network. Control Panel gives users the ability to change network settings, disable security software, and remove protections. Locking these down via GPO is a foundational security hardening measure that every organisation should have in place.
⚠️ NOTE: Always link GPOs to the correct OU and test on one user before applying organisation-wide. Use gpupdate /force on the client machine to apply changes immediately instead of waiting for the next policy refresh cycle.
