🚀 Did you know how many powerful services are hidden inside the siemens HMI runtime settings? If not, this video is your shortcut to unlocking them all!
🎬 In this video, I walk you through the “Services” section — a treasure chest of features that can boost your HMI experience:
🔹 Smart Server – Want to access your HMI on your phone, PC, or even TV? Just activate this feature, set a password, enter the IP & port in your browser, and boom — remote view or control at your fingertips! Whether you just want to monitor or fully control the HMI, you’ve got the option.
🔹 OPC UA – Ideal for industrial-level communication. While I personally prefer connecting directly to the PLC or using SCADA tools like WinCC Explorer, it’s great to have the flexibility.
🔹 HTTP Channel Server – Enables communication between two HMIs, but again, I often rely on PLCs for more stable connections.
🔹 Web Services & SOAP – You can integrate with Excel to read/write tags directly. Cool, right? Though again, SCADA systems often offer more practicality.
🔹 HTML Pages – Let your operator view HTML content directly during runtime.
🔹 SMTP Service – Want to send email alerts (e.g., alarms)? This feature lets you do that, but requires purchasing an SMTP service and configuring the server, port, and credentials.
👍 If this video helped you understand the possibilities better, don’t forget to like it!
💬 And I’d love to hear from you:
Which of these services have you used before?
Or… should I make a real-life project demo using Smart Server in the next video?
