How to Set Data Limits and Connection Priorities in Speedify | Getting Started with Speedify
In this tutorial, we'll show you how to set priorities and data limits for your internet connections in Speedify, so you don't go over your usage limits on expensive connections while ensuring you stay connected to the internet without droupouts.

This is the Speedify user interface, and as you see, each connection you have is listed right there. So I'll click on the WiFi - and it brings up the settings for that connection, and down here is the priority. Clicking on the priority brings up the menu that shows all the possible priorities.
The first one, and the default, is Automatic. Automatic is our new smart priority option.
Automatic will detect the type of connection you’re using and decide how to prioritize it for bonding - so connections that are usually cheaper and unlimited like ethernet and WiFi will be automatically prioritized over connections that tend to be more expensive and limited such as cellular.
The second one is primary.
Primary basically means that this connection is free.
Speedify can use it as much as it wants.
The third option is secondary.
Secondary means this connection is a little bit more expensive, but Speedify can use it if it's needed to give a speed boost or keep you online.
So what happens is when you start using the internet, Speedify will start off using the wifi, and if you're only doing a little bit and the wifi is fast enough, it'll just use the wifi.
But if you start a big download or you start live streaming and you need more internet speed, Speedify will start giving data to the secondary to give you that speed boost using bonding.
The fourth choice is backup.
Backup means this connection is quite expensive and Speedify should only use it if it could help keep you online.
So if your cellular plan is very limited in data, you might actually want to change it to backup so that we don't use too much.
And the final choice is never. Never means don't use this connection.
In normal circumstances, you'll probably never wanna select this is.
So, why would you wanna change priority?
One example is if you're joining a wifi hotspot that's actually off another phone. In this case, Speedify may think that it should put it primary and use it a lot because wifi is normally cheap.
But in this case, you know it's actually going over the cellular on the other phone. So it's actually not better than using the cellular. So in that case, you would go into the wifi and change it to secondary, and now Speedify will use the two basically equally.
So that's how connection priorities work in Speedify.
In addition to priorities, Speedify includes data caps and rate limit settings for your individual connections.
You can see under the connection priorities you have the data cap settings.
You can set daily caps and monthly caps, as well as overlimit behavior.
This is for if you don’t want to use more than a certain amount of data on that connection in a time period.
Underneath the data cap settings we have the rate limit setting - here you can limit the speed of the connection, which is also useful if you have a limited data plan.
