Towards the end of his life, Swami Vivekananda’s health had broken down. He suffered from asthma, diabetes and constant pain — the result of years of tireless work and travel.
One day, while resting in Almora in the Himalayas, the pain became unbearable. In that moment of deep exhaustion, he cried out. For a brief instant, even this great soul felt tired of it all.
Then came a powerful vision. The Divine Mother — Kali — appeared before him. Her voice was firm yet full of love. She said, “Why this weakness, my child? You are only My instrument. This body and its pain are nothing before My play.”
In that instant, all sorrow vanished. He realized that even his suffering was part of Her will — that he was just a small wave in the vast ocean of the Mother.
From that day, he accepted everything — pain, fatigue and struggle — with perfect peace.
