Peak and Plate Rotation in Medellín
This Monday, February 2nd, the new Pico y Placa (peak and plate) traffic restriction begins in Medellín and the metropolitan area. This measure will be in effect during the first half of 2026 and will extend until July 31st. The restriction begins with license plates ending in 1 and 7 for private cars and motorcycles.
During the first week, from February 2nd to 6th, violations will result in a warning, except for taxis. Starting Monday, February 9th, the penalty will be a fine of 15 times the daily minimum wage and the possibility of vehicle impoundment.
The weekly rotation for private vehicles is as follows: Monday (1 and 7), Tuesday (0 and 3), Wednesday (4 and 6), Thursday (5 and 9), and Friday (2 and 8). The measure will be enforced during the usual hours, between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., as confirmed by the Secretary of Mobility, Pablo Ruiz.
