There are two popular approaches to problem solving: the adult approach and the childish approach. The adult approach is when you consider realistic ways to solve problems. The childish approach is when you consider convenient ways to solve problems.
The childish approach often leads to a dead end. It creates the illusion of hopelessness. It begins to seem as if the problem has no solutions at all. In reality, the only solutions a problem has are convenient ones, those found within the comfort zone. Almost all problems can be solved outside the comfort zone.
A clear-headed person doesn't immediately ask themselves, "How can I solve the problem more comfortably?" They first ask themselves, "What options do I have?" And then choose the most convenient one.
The adult approach is exploring realistic options. A childish approach is whims, complaints, a search for justice, “right” and “ought”.
