Greetings, friends. In this video, I'll talk about the intricacies of installing underfloor heating and radiator heating. It will only take 7 minutes of your time. Please watch the video to the end and give us your feedback in the comments.
A small two-story country house with an area of 200 square meters. We'll install underfloor heating on the ground floor, and only radiator heating on the second floor.
We begin installing the underfloor heating system by preparing the surface.
We level the surface. Unevenness should not exceed plus or minus 5 millimeters. Failure to do so may result in air pockets in the pipes.
We lay polyethylene film. This will serve as a waterproofing layer.
We roll the film out over the entire floor surface and secure it with tape.
After leveling the surface, we lay damper tape along the side walls. The tape should be laid along all walls framing the room, studs, door frames, and elbows.
The damper tape serves to compensate for the expansion of the screed and prevent the screed from cracking. The tape should extend at least 20 millimeters above the planned floor structure height.
Next, we lay a layer of Penoplex insulation.
The insulation layer in the underfloor heating system reduces downward heat loss, thereby increasing the efficiency of the underfloor heating system.
In addition to thermal insulation properties, the insulation must be strong enough to withstand the loads of the overlying floor structure and the floor's payload. Extruded polystyrene foam boards best meet these requirements.
To prevent the formation of thermal bridges, we seal the contour joints between adjacent boards and walls with construction foam. We cut the insulation using a regular utility knife.
We secure the Penoplex boards with disc dowels.
We lay a marking underlay. This is needed to easily lay pipes along the markings. It serves no other purpose.
The foundation is ready. Now we move on to installing the radiator. There will be one here, under the window. Steel panel radiator with bottom connection.
We'll connect the pipes to the radiator using copper L-shaped tubes. We'll use a Virax chamfering tool to remove the inner and outer chamfers.
We'll use special anchors for aerated concrete to secure the radiator.
We'll connect the pipes to the radiator from the wall, not the floor. This will make cleaning easier for the homeowner during operation.
We've sorted out the radiator. Now let's move on to laying the pipes.
We'll use ProAqua cross-linked polyethylene pipe for underfloor heating.
A frequently asked question: what pipe diameter should be used for underfloor heating? I recommend using a 16-diameter pipe. This is sufficient. There's no point in increasing the pipe diameter.
We'll use a pipe with an anti-diffusion layer. Pipes with an oxygen barrier. This will ensure the radiators and all boiler equipment last much longer.
The pipe laying method is a volute.
A tacker is a tool designed for quickly and securely fastening pipes to the insulating base with staples.
Using a tacker simplifies and speeds up the installation of underfloor heating.
The pipe spacing is 15 centimeters. In bathrooms, we use 10 cm.
The optimal pipe length for a single circuit is 65-75 meters. I do not recommend making a circuit longer than 100 meters.
In the boiler room, we connect the underfloor heating circuits to the pump-mixing manifold unit. For underfloor heating, we always use a manifold with flow meters because the underfloor heating circuits have different pipe lengths.
This manifold allows you to balance the system and ensure even heating of the underfloor heating.
We enclose the radiator pipes in Energoflex Super Protect insulation.
For radiator heating, we also use ProAqua cross-linked polyethylene pipes. The pipes are connected to the fittings using axial pressing. This connection allows for simple installation without human intervention. This cannot be said, for example, about the installation of polypropylene pipes and fittings.
Axial fittings do not have sealing gaskets. Therefore, they can be laid in screed without fear.
Now our heating system is ready. It will serve and delight customers for many happy years.
Thank you for your patience and watching the video to the end. I wish you a successful installation. We succeeded, and you will definitely succeed!
We design and install heating and water supply systems. We work in Moscow and the Moscow region.
See you there!
