Don't Be Fooled By THIS MS Teams Feature
A new feature was recently added to Microsoft Teams that is rather misleading and could get you in trouble depending on your intentions. This new MS Teams feature is likely to come up as a suggestion for those looking to do one of the following: keep ms teams active, or keep ms teams green, or keep ms teams status available. If you have ever searched for a way to keep ms teams from going idle or to keep ms teams from showing away, or to keep ms teams online, or even keep ms teams available, then you might have come across the Microsoft teams set status duration feature. The status duration Microsoft teams feature does allow you to set a duration for your MS Teams status however, there are some major constraints to using this feature that are outlined in this video. The Microsoft Teams status duration can be used to timebox the status that you set manually however, it does not override the automatically calculated status. The reason being is that MS Teams features a hierarchy of availability that is automatically determined by your activity with various Microsoft 365 apps. And while it is possible to override it, you can only set your status to one that is less available than the automatically calculated status. This video will illustrate this point by showing that there is no way to force Microsoft teams status always available, or to Microsoft teams presence status always available.
