Openwest 2015 - Robert Aboukhalil - "Build data analysis and visualization tools with PHP" (100)
For most applications, using PHP alone on the backend is sufficient. However, when building applications that perform time-consuming analyses, other tools must be used in conjunction. In this talk, I discuss how to build data analysis web apps and will cover: (1) using PHP to safely launch analysis scripts on the backend; (2) reporting progress to the user with jQuery; and (3) visualizing results using JavaScript charting libraries. To convey these topics throughout the talk, I will use as an example a sample web app that discovers clusters in a dataset, reports real-time progress, and displays the results.
