Season 7 Episode 13
Have you ever heard the term Anthrozoology? We are honored to introduce you to Paula Calvo from Barcelona, Spain @antrozoologia. She saw the need to understand the human-animal relationship and that's how she began studying Anthrozoology, the science that studies how humans relate to other animals.
It's important to understand and differentiate between a dog trainer, who doesn't always have a background in animal science, and an ethologist, whose role is not only to train your dog but also to educate the person to understand and comprehend what the animal is trying to communicate. What sets an ethologist apart is that it's considered a science that seeks to understand canine behavior in greater depth and provides strategic and therapeutic tools for modifying animal behavior.
It's very true that when we're going to be parents, we look for courses, read, take workshops, etc. On the other hand, when we bring a dog home to become part of our family, we simply bring it home and that's it. But it's also important to educate ourselves so we can have a better coexistence at home and a more prosperous experience for everyone.
Paula reminds us that we live in a multi-species society, and that animals are part of it, and it's important to be aware of that.
