Soviet Art (After Socialist Realism)
A History of Art in the Soviet Union from Socialist Realism to Sots-Art and Traditional Realism.
Contrary to the expectations of Western observers, de-Stalinization did not put the Soviet Union back on the path of the “natural” development of art. Instead, the reaction was strongly traditionalist on the one hand and post-utopian and ironic on the other. These two styles of art slowly began to replace socialist realism in the post-Stalinist Soviet Union, and when the Soviet Union collapsed, they were what was left of Soviet culture.
