Continuing on the VATSIM Mini Series, we have moved through getting Clearance, and taxiing to the active runway and now we need to think of all the things we might have to hear or say when departing!

Episode 3 has us start at the generic autogen Dublin Airport (EIDW). Initially we are parked on stand and we go through a number of the details relevant to the charts, before heading to the runway and taking off!

Some Points:
Unicom and No Controllers? Set Transponder as 2000 for IFR - Tune into 122.800
Intersection Departures - you might be told to line up at an earlier intersection hold point rather than the one you are heading towards. If that happens and the aircraft performance allows it, go ahead and follow that instruction and read it back to the controller. If you can't let them know.
Have the next frequency you'll need after takeoff programmed into the Comms box so when you're told to contact another controller, you can just switch the frequency with one click
During takeoff, don't drift - try and keep flying along that runway heading as if you're still tracking the centreline
Remember "Flight Level" will need Standard Pressure. "feet" will require local pressure.
If told "DIRECT TO ____" with a waypoint not in your flight plan, you can add it via the MCDU direct to page anyway by just typing it into the scratch pad - be sure to select the correct one if there are a few options! The closest should be at the top of the list
In the Cruise and switching between area controllers?
Let them know your Flight Level and your next waypoint that you're inbound to! 👍
