I really, really liked this game, and it’s really high up there on my all time list across genre of games. Time flies when you’re having fun and 200h has never felt shorter.

I know I made some factual errors about mechanics, plot, character here and there in the video. Just like my game play, the script was fast and loose. By the time I finished the script and started clip hunting, I realized I was misremembering A LOT of details about the early game.

I also chopped out a lot, especially the part about localization. As much as I wanted to talk about it as it was something that bothered me for the first half of base game, it was not constructive and borderlined mean-spirited.

About the video
This was a long video to do, phew. I felt like I was struggling at the end because I wanted to play some more, but wanted to avoid losing motivation so I pushed through.

Due to how I go script-before-clips, and how long the game and this video was, a lot of amendments to the recorded VO was required. I was too lazy to rerecord, so they were added as footnotes/slides in the video. There were a lot, which is “unprofessional” in itself, but I also didn’t thoroughly spellcheck before exporting…

I know I make videos for the sake of making them, but I still wonder about purpose of this video. It’s a mix of before-you-buy reviews, and “shooting the shit with someone else who’s played the game”. These 2 are mutually exclusive angles, and I honestly don’t know how to square that.

Regarding the technical aspect of it, some scattered thoughts

1. Getting better at recording VO. Both from an EQ/equipment standpoint, being a bit more animated, and editing out breathing sounds (I wish I could automate this)
2. Getting better at organizing folders in and out of Da Vinci.
3. I hate how Steam VODs (my primary source of clips) has audio desync issues. I waste so much time lining up them back up, and at some parts I’m pretty sure it’s not synced correctly still, but I’m too lazy to fix it.
4. Related, I was thinking about putting BGM throughout the video, but it was really long and a lot of the clips had BGM already, so I left it. But there are clear breaks between certain clips without music, and that might be awkward.
