Starting with version 3.32 Lima, QGIS natively incorporates tools for converting, extracting, and managing LiDAR point clouds thanks to the integration of algorithms from the open-source PDAL (Point Data Abstraction Library). This eliminates the need for proprietary software such as Lastools to join, trim, or classify LAS/LAZ files or generate Digital Elevation Models, among other operations.
This video demonstrates some of these basic operations with LiDAR point clouds by generating a raster layer of heights for natural and artificial objects on the ground.
