Located on Mexico's Pacific coast, Acapulco is one of Mexico's most important tourist destinations. Its privileged location, less than 400 km from Mexico City, has made it one of the closest beach getaways to the Mexican capital.
Acapulco has 20 kilometers of beach, divided between three major tourist areas: Acapulco Tradicional, Acapulco Dorado, and Acapulco Diamante. The twenty beaches that make up these three areas remained closed for three months, and it wasn't until the first week of July that Acapulco began its tourism reopening.
The reopening of Acapulco's beaches was much stricter than in other destinations in Mexico. Activities are limited to strolling or swimming. Hours are from 7 am to 7 pm; gatherings of more than three people, the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the installation of beach furniture are prohibited. However, despite the efforts made by authorities, this is not 100% enforced.
