Sometimes STL files may not be in the best condition to 3D Print...
Here is a simple MeshMixer Fix to repair STL files.
I have not tried this with all STL files, so I cannot say if it will always work.
MeshMixer has a number of other options to try to fix STL files, these are not shown in this video..
