We Visit Wilmore Dam:
We visit the famous Wilmore Dam! It was super cool but dang along drive, mostly highway!
Wilmore Dam is located on Folsom Road in McDowell County, West Virginia. The dam is 3 miles south of Iaeger on South Route 52 and 3 miles north of Roderfield.
Wilmore Dam is one of the most visited, historical places by out-of-staters.
The Norfolk & Western Railway started construction on the dam in 1904 & it was first used in 1906. The dam supplied water for the steam engines that hauled coal from Coalwood to up and down the Ohio River. In the 40’s, ownership switched to Carter Coal Company and later to Olga Coal Company until it’s last days in 1959 when diesel replaced the steam, meaning the dam was no longer needed.
The railroad has since been taken out, but the dam remains. It is amazing to notice the fine details and craftsmanship of the early 1900’s within the dam’s structure that is nestled between the mountains that offer four-season foliage all throughout the year.
There is also lots of wildlife that can been seen in the marshes such as Blue Herons, geese, endanger salamanders, ducks, otters, beavers, etc.

When it comes to automotive, we have got you covered, unless you want real technical advice of course. We've got a shop(or two) full of junk, so there is always something to work on from Mustangs to Mopars to Chevy's and everything in between. We also frequent car events from big ones like Hot Rod Power Tour, Ponies In The Smokies, Pigeon Forge Rod Run, & Mustang Week to the smaller local events like the ones put on by our buddies over at the WNC Pharoahs Car Club.
When it comes to side by sides and atv's, well, CF Moto is life. But there is always a Yamaha, Polaris, or who knows what close by. Not to mention our trusty Kubota's. We've got a couple hundred acres we ride on locally here in the mountains of Western North Carolina, but are frequent visitors of the Hatfields & Mccoy Trail system in West Virginia.
Now the hunting and fishing, that's where it gets a little hit or miss. Avid deer hunters that love to bass & trout fish, we do not get alot done of either. In fact, 2022 was our worst hunting season ever. Not to mention we sold both our Bullet Bass Boats, leaving is stranded on dry ground. But we dream and hope of big fish and big kills. Who knows if that day will ever come?
In the end, the title gets it right, we are flunkies, a long way from professionals, but we enjoy what we do and enjoy sharing it with you! We draw inspirations from the likes of Roadkill, Cleetus Mcfarland, The SXS Blog Boys and Expedition Overland in hopes of bringing you some cool content and of course like all the rest, making it big one day!
