The tire nest is occupied by a Verreaux’s Eagle Owl (Bubo lacteus) - the largest owl in Africa! The female owl was first seen the night of the 3rd August 2022 and has returned occasionally. This is the second time the female has made use of this box since 2020.
The owl box has been occupied for the past 2 breeding seasons in a row. EcoSolutions team are monitoring this box for activity.
You may also be able to spot an Egyptian Goose making use of the box during the day. Occasionally in the early mornings, Red-billed Hornbills typically visit the nest.
