President nominates Chuck Hagel for Defense Secretary

Intro: This week American President Barack Obama announced his choice
for the next US Defense secretary, Chuck Hagel. Mr. Hagel, a former
senator, would be Mr. Obama's third Defense Secretary, replacing
outgoing Secretary Leon Panetta. Observers say the US Senate is likely
to approve Mr. Hagel, who is in fact not from President Obama's
Democratic Party, but from the opposition Republican Party. But some
conservative Republicans say they will oppose him. More in this report
