making a short song from start to finish

unless i already have an idea for a motif or something id like to do in a song, i always start out by just messing around and playing whatever i feel like when making music !!!
i find this helps me come up with ideas that i might want to consider expanding upon for the actual song :0
1:48 making a lead instrument
i felt like the piano wasnt what i was going for, so i decided to quickly make a really basic synth lead !!
3:18 developing motif A
with the new instrument, i mess around again, but this time try to look for a main motif to use in the song :0
i also get distracted a couple of times and just start playing little clips of random songs ;-; ;-; ;-;
5:45 editing the lead instrument
the lead instrument sounded close to what i wanted, but still different :0
so i decided to make a new serum instance and to work with that !!
6:44 finalizing motif A
kind of a mix of honing in on one motif to use for the song while also just messing around a bit haha
9:25 recording motif A
12:00 developing motif A'
now that the main motifs made, i mess around to try and make a variation of it thats still distinct enough to be interesting :0

i felt the song needed some more movement and stuff going on in the background, so i decided to make a buzzy square wave thing !!

everything felt too dry, so i decided to add a tiny bit of reverb :0

mostly messing around and trying to think of a new part to go after the A block :0

i felt like the song swapped back to motif A too quickly, so i thought id move things over to elongate the B section a little more :0
