Creating TV Static in After Effects and Photoshop - Ai2Ae
In this video I'll take you through how to create a vintage television static effect using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects.
In photoshop, on a black layer sized 1920x1080 (or whatever size you're outputting to), go to EFFECTS - NOISE - ADD NOISE to create the static.
Save that image.
In After Effects, put that image into a composition and ALT/Option-click on the stopwatch next to the position of that layer. This will open the expressions menu. In the expressions menu, type something like this
posterizeTime(6);
wiggle(6,100)
The 6's in this example should match. If you want to speed it up, change both 6's to a higher number. If you want to slow it down, change them to a lower number. The 100 in this example is how much it will randomly move: higher number = moves more space, lower number = moves less space.
