The Krasny Oktyabr-Neva plant, famous for its walk-behind tractors, has launched a new product – it now also makes motorized towing vehicles. Neva currently offers two models, the MS1 and MS6. The MS1, so to speak, is designed for fishermen – a small, nimble "stool" that can weave through the forest between the trees like a hare. It has a top speed of 25 km/h, tows up to 150 kg in a sled, folds in a few minutes, and fits in the trunk of a hatchback. It can be loaded by a single person – the heaviest part weighs just over 50 kg.
The MS6, marketed by the manufacturer as a hunter, has a top speed of 38 km/h, and can tow up to 200 kg in a sled and up to 40 kg on the cargo bed of the towing vehicle itself. It's less maneuverable than the MS1, but it can carry a lot more cargo and is faster.
We tested both vehicles on ice, steep slopes, and through forests. The final test was a roughly 10-kilometer run across the frozen Lake Ladoga, from the "Broken Ring" memorial to the Osinovetsky lighthouse and back.
