WeRide begins offering robotaxis on Uber in UAE

This marks the first time Uber has launched autonomous vehicles outside the US. The service began after a partnership formed in late September between WeRide and Uber.
Effective immediately, Uber users in Abu Dhabi can book WeRide's robotaxis through UberX or Uber Comfort. The service covers key areas, including Saadiyat Island, Yas Island, and routes to Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport. Wider coverage is planned soon.
For now, each robotaxi includes a safety officer. Fully unmanned operations are expected to launch in 2025. The fleet is operated by UAE-based Tawasul Transport and supported by the Integrated Transport Centre and Abu Dhabi Mobility.
WeRide, founded in 2017, went public on Nasdaq on October 25. The company operates autonomous driving in 30 cities across seven countries and holds test licenses in China, the US, the UAE, and Singapore.
