In this video you will learn how to practice on IELTS-Blog.com to prepare for IELTS on a computer.

Visit https://test.ielts-blog.com and register for free to use our IELTS Online Preparation Platform, where you can practice and improve all of your IELTS skills, to make sure you get your target score. On our website the practice tests look just like in the real computer-delivered IELTS.

From the homepage, click on Practice in the left sidebar. That will take you to the Practice section.

If you are taking the Academic IELTS, make sure to select Academic here, and if you are taking the General Training IELTS, click on General. This control sets the test type you will be doing, so it’s important to choose the right one.

You can choose to do Full Tests, which means doing Listening, Reading and Writing tests one after the other, or you can select just Listening, Reading or Writing, to work on one skill. The blue colour shows what is currently selected.

In the Practice section there are many Test Tiles. Each tile is a different practice test you can do. The ones with a blue padlock are unlocked, and you can use them. The ones with a red padlock you can unlock by paying for access on the website.

To unlock practice tests, click on Unlock this test, and on the next page click on this link https://www.ielts-blog.com/ielts-onli... to pay for an access code. Then copy and paste your access code here, and click Activate New Code. That’s it! Now you can use the tests you unlocked.

Every Test Tile has a Start Practice button that starts the practice test. During the test your answers get saved, so if you want to start fresh, tick the “Clear previous answers” box, and then click Start Practice.

Now we are inside the practice test. Let me quickly show you the navigation, because it is similar for Listening, Reading and Writing tests. There are two navigation bars, at the top and at the bottom. On the top bar there are arrows to move forward (to the next part of the test) or to go back (to the previous part). There is a timer you can start, stop or reset. In the Listening test you can also control the recording – play, pause and rewind.

On the bottom navigation bar there are question numbers. To move between questions click on their numbers or use the arrows. When you answer a question, it gets a little underline to show that. You can select questions to review later by ticking this box. If you have to leave in the middle of the practice session, click here to Save Answers and you won’t lose all your work so far.

To check if you answered the questions correctly, click on Answers. This button will do two things. One, it will show a red border around your wrong answers and a green border around your correct answers. Two, it will bring out the Answer Help card.

Hold the mouse over any answer space and the correct answer will appear on a green background. Click to expand the Answer Help card and it will show the sentences where the correct answers are located.

When you are done analysing your answers, click Hide, the red and green borders will disappear, and you will be able to practice some more.

In the Reading test you can select and highlight text and add notes. Use the left mouse button to select text, and the right mouse button to highlight it or add notes. To see your notes, click on the highlighted text.

You can also copy and paste words. Select a word and press CTRL+C to copy it, then click on the answer space and press CTRL+V to paste it.

Finally, when you click on Exit Test, all your answers will be automatically saved.

Alright! That was everything you need to start using our website, so jump right in!

In the next videos we will go skill by skill, and show you some cool techniques to score higher on the computer-delivered IELTS test.
