4:55 the word i was looking for was kaleidoscope.
7:23 removes by removing the screw in the center of the aluminum housing. AAA 1.5 volt battery was to weak to run the laser, 9 volt battery made both work, a 16 volt transformer fried one. The lasers used in this are broken by thousands of micro mirrors. The lasers themselves are just as weak or weaker than a laser you would buy to use as a pointer for a whiteboard or to play with a cat from the dollar store. This things power comes from the many mirrors. The dollar store laser pointer has 650nm wavelengths and a maximum output of under 5 mw. The star shower has 532-650 nm wavelengths and a maximum output of under 5 mw. It was interesting tho, looking inside, taking it apart. In my opinion it was built well. The housing of this thing is tough and hard to open so in sure it will put up with weather great. The innards were built better than I would have imagined before opening it.
