Today's Bom Dia Minas ended with a tribute to journalist Renato Machado, who died in Rio at the age of 83 from heart failure. His body will be laid to rest this morning and then cremated. One of the great names in Brazilian television journalism, Renato had a career spanning over 40 years at TV Globo, where he marked generations and made history, especially in the mornings, when he presented Bom Dia Brasil and helped to revamp the news program. He also presented Jornal da Globo, RJTV, was part of the Jornal Nacional news desk, was a correspondent in London, a special reporter, and received an International Emmy nomination for a report he did for Globo Repórter. Renato will always be remembered for his elegance, intelligence, generosity, and kindness. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, and pay tribute to this colleague who always inspired us.
