The Hippocratic cap is one of the varieties of a recurring headband, which is applied using either a double-headed bandage or bandages of different widths (narrow and wide) fastened together.
Indications: the bandage is applied to stop bleeding and fix the dressing material after surgery or for wounds and burns of the parietal part of the head.
Equipment: double-headed bandage (Option for preparing a bandage with two heads: take 2 bandages, unfold them to a length of 15 cm, place the end of one bandage on the end of the other (fold one towards the other); you will get a bandage with two heads). Or two bandages of different widths - one narrow, the second wide.
Important points of the technique of applying the Hippocratic cap:
The first fixing turn of the bandage should pass below the external occipital protrusion and as close as possible to the eyebrows.
Do not pull the turns of the bandage too tightly - the bandage may slip.
Do not tie a knot at the back of the head, because the patient will be uncomfortable sleeping in such a bandage.
