This scene was slightly re-staged from the way it's usually played out (other than Hogeye, no one really notices or cares Norma is present and she is treated rudely and dismissively by the film crew) to further bring out the sadness sand hopelessness of the song. This was necessary because in recent years, its message and emotional impact have been really diluted by taking it out of context, like in the t.v. show "Glee."
