The festival of Deepawali is celebrated on the day when मर्यादा पुरुषोत्तम Ram returned to his kingdom in Ayodhya with his wife Sita and his brother Lakshmana after defeating the demon king Ravana in Lanka. The people delightfully welcomed them with joy and glittering oil lamps.
The festival symbolizes the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma, light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
The holy town of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, India is the birth place of Lord Ram.
The grand Ram Lalla Mandir located at the birthplace of Bhagwan Ram was inaugurated on 22 January 2024.

The festival in its ninth edition, was celebrated at Ayodhya on a grand scale.
The event set two Guinness World Records:
• for the most people performing 'diya' rotation simultaneously.
• for the largest display of 26,17,215 oil lamps.
The festivities included:
Ramayana-themed tableaux, folk performances, laser shows, drone shows and scintillating fireworks.
22 tableaux moved along the Rampath depicting the life and journey of Lord Ram across all seven stages: बालकांड, अयोध्याकांड, अरण्यकांड, किष्किंधाकांड, सुंदरकांड, लंकाकांड/युद्धकांड एवम् उत्तरकांड
Over 2,100 scholars participated in the Saryu Aarti, creating mesmerising visuals at Ram ki Paidi.
Crowds thronged the streets as folk arts from across India, including Haryana’s Phaag, Kerala’s Kathakali, Rajasthan’s Jhumar, Punjab’s Bhangra, Odisha’s Sambalpuri, and West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh’s traditional performances, added a pan-Indian flavour to the celebrations.
