Midnight mat thief
On July 3rd, 2020, I was working the graveyard shift on the other side of the hotel when I got a call on the radio from the front desk night auditor that someone was stealing a mat from the front of the hotel. By the time I got around the corner, he was already a bit far. I'm thinking, I'm not gonna run after this guy! So I decided to jump on my Segway mini pro and go after him. In the time it took to get to and on my Segway, he was getting further away. I finally caught up with him almost two blocks away and was able to get the mat back. This video is just having a little fun about the incident.
(On a side note. People that have seen this video were concerned about my safety. As I've mentioned before, I've been in the security field for 15 yrs and was very good at what I did. Wrestling, grappling and paying attention to body language. If you notice after he gives me the carpet, I kept the light on him to let him know that I was still looking at him. Also, because he now had both hands in his pockets. I really didn't consider him a threat but its just good practice to not quickly just turn around right after a confrontation like that but to make sure there was some distance between us before turning around and to make sure that he continued walking away. Then I was able to leave.)
