Hello! In this lesson, we'll learn "layer management," the backbone of the design process. As you design, each object you add appears as a layer in Figma. This list, seen in the left panel, forms the layer structure of your project.
🔹 1. What Are Layers?
Every box, text, image, or component you draw is a layer. You can control the order of overlapping objects in this panel. If you want to move an object to the top or bottom, right-click and select "Bring to Front / Send to Back."
🔹 2. Grouping (Ctrl/Cmd + G)
You can group multiple objects together into a single group. This makes moving, aligning, and editing much easier. If you want to ungroup them, press Shift + Ctrl/Cmd + G.
🔹 3. Frame vs. Group
A frequently confused topic: What's the difference between a Group and a Frame?
A Group simply combines objects. Frames, on the other hand, provide more control over your content. If you want to create an Auto Layout and responsive structure, you should use Frames.
🔹 4. Naming Layers
Giving descriptive names to layers is crucial, especially in larger projects. For example, if you write "Login Button" instead of "Button 1," your teammates will be able to easily understand it.
🔹 5. Layout and Hierarchy
You can create layers within frames, creating a structured structure with nested logic. This will make your design both readable and maintainable. Remember: Working organized saves time not only for you but also for the developers you work with.
