If you have the software installed and your project has been partially implemented but on hold, documentation is one of the tasks you can carry on with.

Business process documentation can be a cumbersome task and, as a result, is often overlooked or skipped. Our suggestion would be to focus on the benefits and efficiency gains that come from documenting your processes, even outside of an implementation project:

•Creates a resource for training

•Creates a resource for analysis and process review

•Provides an essential backup of work being performed if the personperforming it departs or moves to a different role.

Business process documentation provides a detailed description of a process and how to complete it. In ERP projects, we often hear the term “tribal knowledge” meaning that certain resources have the information for a specific process in their head. This can be limiting in an ERP implementation where success can be dependent upon the availability of such information and the opportunity to evaluate how changes improve your business model.
