Gigafactory Texas on 18 June 2023! This is where Model Y’s are built and soon Cyber Truck production will start!
Happy Father’s Day!
I spent the morning flying at the Boring Company and SpaceX sights in Bastrop, then stopped to check out the Neuralink campus about halfway to Giga Texas. There is obvious construction underway, and there is a large security fence and gate present now, but also security guards who politely asked me to leave, so no updates from that trip.
I then decided to come over to Giga Texas to do a grand tour flight around the site, but the heat and humidity, plus ample sun amid blue skies really began to affect my drone and iPad that I use to view and control the drone, so I wasn't able to cover the entire property, but I did capture a good chunk of it, so I hope you enjoy this video and what I was able to show.
In the video introduction, I talk about some new information related to the permit approval for the multi-Level parking garage, including maps of where this will be constructed. The City of Austin was kind enough to provide the map, which really helps to narrow down where to look for future construction.
I also talk about a new development on the far northeast, where contracted crews have been seen surveying and marking a large section of trees. This is in an area currently undeveloped, and just south of the "lone Tree" field where the rental equipment lot and maintenance Quonset hut is located. This area is also about half a mile or about 1 Km northeast of the battery cathode plant.

For the grand tour flyover, I was able to show quite a bit of the west side earthwork, grade, and road construction, including the far southwest undeveloped section as well.
Next, I fly over the far south of the factory, over where the power plant and the water treatment plant and tall water tower is located, and we see some interesting developments here as compared to the last time I flew over this location.
We tour around the horse ranch on the southeast side of the Colorado River (also Tesla Property) and the large lake that was acquired by Tesla in late 2021. I show the location where the new multi-Level parking garage is to be built before continuing along the Colorado River to the north and to the "island" just north of the large lake. This is where a Boring Tunnel had permits to be constructed, although no obvious signs of work in this area were noted.
I fly along the Battery Cathode plant construction site to the north and show the area where the tree surveys and markings have recently taken place, also showing its location relative to the main factory over a mile (~1.8 Km) to the southwest. We then tour the "lone Tree" field to it's northern boundary before flying over the remaining hills and ponds from the old sand and gravel mine.
We see the large rectangular field (permitted as the north logistics lot and future warehouse) and get a great look at the long line of stored materials and equipment which may be part of future main factory expansion work, or perhaps part of the battery cathode complex of structures or even a future construction project.
We continue the tour south over to the mobile concrete batch plant, electrical switchyard and the Megapack construction site, before crossing the central highway to end up at the far west side where Tesla Road is being widened and the intersection of FM 973 is being improved.
I hope you enjoy this special Father's Day grand tour and new development discussion. Thank you for watching and I hope this has been informative, educational, and entertaining for you.
