We have had a lot of comments lately that the bears are “fat”. (Some very rude!). I want to explain something about winter and bears. Prior to winter, bears shed their thinner summer coat and grow in a massively thick, double layered winter coat. They can also put on up to 1/3 of their own body weight. This is because bears eat very little during the winter, and even though our bears don’t fully hibernate, they DO eat much less, are much less active and sleep much more. Leo is also 28 years old and as we all know, as you age, your body does shift a bit. S0 please understand that the bears here are happy and healthy and where they should be at this time of year!
