Use a SolidWorks shared database to give non-CAD users faster access to engineering information.
In this video, I explain how the shared Solidise database workflow helps teams browse SolidWorks files without SolidWorks installed on every workstation. A SolidWorks user still acts as the source of the indexed data. That user runs the Solidise agent on a workstation with access to the CAD files and SolidWorks, scans the selected folders, and creates the shared indexed database.
Once the database is available, other team members can connect to it through Solidise and use a shared SolidWorks file browser from the browser workspace. Procurement, manufacturing, project, and release team members can browse files, open assemblies, inspect BOMs, review quantities, view previews, check custom properties, and run where-used searches without opening CAD.
This workflow is especially useful when teams need a SolidWorks BOM for non CAD users. A purchasing user can review BOM data before ordering parts, while a manufacturing user can check where a part is used before asking engineering for more detail.
In this video:
Set up a SolidWorks shared database workflow
Browse SolidWorks files without SolidWorks on every workstation
Use a shared SolidWorks file browser in Solidise
View assemblies, BOMs, previews, and properties
Use SolidWorks BOM for non CAD users
Run where-used searches from indexed data
Help procurement and manufacturing answer everyday file questions
Reduce interruptions for engineers
Solidise helps teams share indexed SolidWorks information more safely and efficiently, while keeping the SolidWorks user as the source of the database and giving non-CAD users browser access to the information they need.
