This video will show you soffit framing made easy while I frame a soffit around HVAC ductwork when finishing your basement. In this DIY home improvement video series, I'll be finishing a basement step by step. This video is for an interior soffit to cover up things when you're framing a room in your basement. Framing around HVAC can be easy and improve the look of the finished room. Let me show you how to build a room in the basement!
When finishing a basement, you will run into all sorts of things you may want to cover up. It might be plumbing, a beam or HVAC. Whatever it is, you can hide it with this technique. There are lots of ways to build a soffit. This just happens to be my favorite way to build a soffit. It's pretty simple, lightweight and cheap.

General steps to finish a room in your basement:
1) Discuss your project with your local building department
2) Design the space
3) Create your floor plans
4) Select you contractors
5) Pull any permits required
6) Adjust any plumbing or HVAC
7) Fire blocking and insulation
8) Frame the Walls
9) Rough in your plumbing electrical and HVAC
10) Install doors
11) Insulate your walls if needed
12) Install and finish drywall
13) Paint walls
14) Finish electrical
15) Install flooring
16) Install trim
17) Install plumbing fixtures
