🤔You may have heard that kinematic laser scaning often referred to as “unstructured”. This refers to the fact that resulting points do not contain metadata regarding the source scannners position… While static laser scans are “structured”, since they don’t move during measurment all points can be traced back to the position and orientation of the source scanner.
👉 However, all mobile scanners do actually provide something else that can be used for reference.

This allows for insanely quick data collection that is capable of producing very usable textured 3D models which also retain all the dimensional accuracy laser scanning provides.
