OBS Just Got It's BIGGEST Plugin Yet!
OBS Source Profiler is finally here. See exactly what every source, filter and scene is doing to your performance.
The OBS Source Profiler is the plugin a lot of us have been waiting for. Exeldro built it on Derrod's work, and it does one dead simple thing brilliantly: it tells you what every source, filter, scene and transition is actually costing you inside OBS. Think Task Manager, but for your whole setup.
One thing to note first. It only works on OBS 31, which is in beta right now. You can grab that straight from GitHub or update through OBS itself. Once it is installed, you jump up to Tools and open the Performance Viewer.
From there you get the lot. CPU average and max, GPU average, max and total, tick times, plus input and output FPS for your media sources so you can spot a video that is not rendering right. Right click the columns to add or remove what you want, and it remembers your layout next time you open it. Sort by total percent and the biggest resource hogs jump straight to the top.
The colours are the bit that will surprise you. Blue means you are over 25 percent of a frame, yellow over 50, red over 100. Cross 100 for any length of time and that is where stuttering, dropped frames and encoding errors creep in. So keep everything as low as you can.
One big tip: do not leave it running while you are live, because the viewer uses resources itself. Use it to find your heavy filters, then close it down.
